Coming Together in the Presence of God

We are happy to consider blessing your marriage at St. Alban’s. If you are interested in getting married here, the best place to start is by contacting The Rev. Timothy A. Boggs. This will initiate a brief dialogue by phone or e-mail to learn something about the couple, the reasons for your choice of St. Alban’s for your wedding and your desired wedding date. They will then set up a meeting with you to get to know each other including relationship history (whether either of you has been married before or has any children from previous relationships), discuss marriage preparation requirements, make sure that Church regulations have been met (one member of the couple must be baptized), and discuss preliminary thoughts on your wedding ceremony. If both the priest and the couple feel there is a good fit, we will move forward with reserving the church for your wedding and beginning a program of marriage preparation.

Because the Episcopal Church is more interested in your happy life together as a married couple than in your wedding ceremony, a program of marriage preparation is required. This will be designed by the priest performing the wedding together with yourselves and could include private counseling with the priest, use of surveys or other inventories to determine your readiness for marriage, or a retreat day where issues as a couple are discussed with experienced married couples.

While we have no set fees, we ask that donations will be made to the church and priest. Uses of the church organist for your ceremony or the church hall for a reception have designated fees which will be discussed during the time of marriage preparation.
