Music at St. Alban’s

The Chancel Choir

St. Alban’s Chancel Choir provides music that enriches and beautifies the worship at St. Alban’s on Sunday mornings and certain holy days.  From September through June the choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.   During the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service the choir sings an offertory anthem and other service music.  Anyone high school age and older, who loves to sing and can regularly attend rehearsals, is eligible for choir membership.

The Shore Ringers

The The Shore Ringers (Handbell Choir) is an important part of the music at St. Alban’s. This group of committed players rehearses each  Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and plays for church services and other events from September through June. Any 7th grader through adult who loves music and can regularly attend weekly rehearsals is invited to join this choir.

The Treble Choir

Beginning January 12, 2020, the St. Alban’s Treble Choir will begin to meet after Sunday
services for short rehearsals and continue singing together in song. I invite all children from St. Alban’s and from the community, grades 1 – 6, to join us. Information can be found below.
Start Date: January 12, 2020
Season: September – Pentecost
Rehearsal Length: After church until ~11:30 am
Curriculum: The Royal School of Music (America)
The curriculum of the RSCM is used in both small churches and cathedral music programs alike. It provides youthful singers with the tools they need to find and master their singing voices, all while singing the rich repertoire of the church. All materials needed are provided by St. Alban’s.

Purpose:

The purpose of this treble choir is to sing! It exists to encourage our youth to offer their voices and lead in our worship. From time to time, the treble choir will lead us in hymn-singing and offer anthems of their very own. They will also collaborate with our adult chancel choir and bell choir, becoming an integral part of music at St. Alban’s.
