Holly Christine Clark

Holly experienced the call to the ministry as a desire to share her love of God and of people in new ways. A postulant for the priesthood within the Diocese of Maine, Holly’s home sponsoring parish is Christ Church, Norway.

Holly was educated in the public schools of Andover, MA and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.A. in English with minors in Art and in Education and a M.A.T. in Secondary School English. While teaching high school English in Maine, she earned her C.A.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Maine. She has completed her Middler year of seminary at Berkeley Divinity School at Yale and will graduate in the spring of 2018. She is particularly interested in Christian Formation, Pastoral Care and Practical Theology, Early Christian History, Worship, and Prayer. This past school year Holly served as a seminarian intern at Trinity on the Green, a large historic church in downtown New Haven, CT. To begin this summer, she traveled to Rome, Italy on a self-designed religious pilgrimage before attending the Episcopal Preaching Foundation’s weeklong “Preaching Excellence Program” in Richmond, VA. She is greatly looking forward to getting to know the parish community of St. Alban’s.

Prior to attending seminary, Holly shared her love of people, literature, writing, and ideas and her passion for teaching as a high school English teacher from 1997-2015 in both public and independent schools. She has held many leadership roles in education and presented at numerous state and national education conferences. Her student-centered instructional practices are reflected in her publications: a chapter in Classroom Assessment: What’s Working in High Schools by Anne Davies (2007) and Adolescent Literacy Resources: Linking Research and Practice (2002) with Julie Meltzer and Nancy Cook Smith. Her work with students was featured in the DVD Making Assessment Work . . . for learning (Anne Davies, 2006).

Time with her family and friends, singing, journaling, gardening, yoga, cooking, bicycling, hiking, golf, travel, and skiing are some of the activities Holly enjoys for relaxation and renewal.
